The aim of this site is to investigate the possibility of installing a community broadband network in Pembury.
That there is a demand for Broadband internet in Pembury has been demonstrated by the number of registrations on the broadband4pembury website. The problem is that the demand is not enough to make the current commercial suppliers of broadband jump at the opportunity. Times are hard in the Telecommunications industry and the companies involved don't have the money to invest unless a clear business case can be made.
This leaves a group of people who want broadband but can't get it. So if as a group we act together could a broadband service be installed in Pembury by the people who want it? The answer is yes but it has to be made clear from day one that the project is going to cost money to set up and run and must break even to keep going.
